Space-Based Images Indicate Iran's Navy and Atomic Locations Struck by American and Israeli Airstrikes.

Multiple joint strikes has allegedly sunk or crippled at least 11 Iranian naval vessels starting Saturday, recently obtained satellite images reveal, with missile bases and atomic facilities also being targeted.

Photographs of the southern Konarak military port and the Bandar Abbas installation, which is located on the Strait of Hormuz and houses the headquarters of the Iranian navy, show black smoke pouring from multiple vessels on the start of the week.

Maritime Forces Sustained Major Damage

Among the targets eliminated was the Makran, the country's largest naval vessel which had functioned as a drone carrier. Aerial imagery showed dark plumes rising from the ship which had been moored at the Bandar Abbas base.

Intelligence reports state that at least a quintet of warships at Bandar Abbas were "damaged or eliminated". Pictures of the southern end of the harbor reveal smoke rising from the Makran, while additional vessels appear to be damaged, with one of them seen burning.

Over at Konarak, photos reveal several damaged vessels, with expert review pointing to strikes against a half-dozen warships. Photos taken on the start of the week also show that several buildings at the base have been destroyed.

"For many years the Tehran government has threatened global maritime traffic," an American commander stated. "Now, there is not one Iranian vessel underway in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz or Sea of Oman, and we will not stop."

A number of vessels reportedly sunk may have been concealed in aerial photos by haze or plumes, or struck at sea, and have not been conclusively proven. Other accounts stated that an Iranian vessel was going down near Sri Lankan territorial waters, leading to a search and rescue mission.

Missile Installations and Nuclear Facilities Targeted

Neutralizing Tehran's launch facilities and the prevention of atomic bomb programs were declared as other goals of the military strikes. Satellite images also depicted strikes on the southern Khorgu base and north-western Tabriz missile missile bases, and at the Konarak air base, where missile storage facilities and fortifications were targeted.

Over at the Choqa Balk-e drone UAV facility west of Kermanshah, significant destruction was seen to sheds, bunkers and UAV launching apparatus.

Destruction was also seen at a radar site at the Zahedan airbase in eastern Iran, close to the frontier with Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Of particular note, the new round of attacks have reportedly targeted installations at the Natanz complex – long said to be at the center of Iran's enrichment efforts. An international watchdog commented that the affected structures were used for access to the facility's underground nuclear plant and that "no radiological consequence" was expected.

Wider Consequences and Analysis

Observers suggested that the strikes appeared to have "significantly degraded" the Iranian navy's ability to sustain conventional attacks using its biggest warships. But, it was emphasised that Tehran retains the ability to launch unconventional attacks at sea through the use of drones, mini-submarines and its so-called "shadow fleet" of tankers.

The overall scale of the destruction caused to Iran's defense infrastructure remains unclear, with strikes said to be persisting. Pictures also shows widespread destruction to the headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the city of Tehran.

Numerous of non-military structures also seem to have been struck in the capital and across the country after the fighting escalated. Reports of deaths from inside Iran suggest that many hundreds of non-combatants may have been killed in the strikes.

With the conflict ongoing, monitoring of aerial photographs will persist to track the unfolding scope of damage.
