Selecting the Three Gunners Assets to Pick v Wolves? FPL Team of the Week

One major call in this Fantasy Premier League team of the gameweek is to opt for no City players - and yes, even Erling Haaland!

The funds is required to load up on Gunners assets as they host one of the poorest sides in English top-flight recent memory.

It's true, Manchester City smashed a total of five goals on their most recent away fixture, but now they face Palace, a side with the second-strongest defensive record in the division for goals conceded and fourth-strongest in terms of expected goals conceded.

And Arsenal hosting Wolverhampton is the kind of match-up you just have to attack - the best side in the division against one lacking of form, quality and self-belief.

This lineup of the gameweek is picked based on current FPL valuations to stay under a £100m budget, as if you were using a Free Hit chip.

How did Last Week's Squad Do?

The captain didn't deliver but high points from Fernandes (18), Dias (fourteen), Phil Foden (twelve) and Tarkowski (9), plus a lucky 16-point Dewsbury-Hall substitute cameo resulted in a massive 83 points total. Success!

Fantasy Premier League Team of the Gameweek for Gameweek 16

Goalkeeper & Defenders

Roefs, Sunderland, keeper, £4.7m - Newcastle United (h)

This long-awaited Tyne-Wear derby in the top flight since 2016 is going to be loud, passionate, combative - and it might be one of those games that is all drama but minimal clear chances.

Which would make Roefs, ranked third in the goalkeeper scoring charts, a good shout.

Ben White, the Gunners, £5.2m - Wolves (home)

An Arsenal defender is a must for this fixture. Wolverhampton have one goal away from home so far and one in their past six fixtures.

Ben White is a excellent offensive threat when he is given his chance. He started the last two games at right-back, had a 14-point haul against Brentford and leads the charts in that period among Arsenal defensive players with 2 key passes, 2 attempts inside the area and an xGI of 0.7.

Cucurella, Chelsea, £6.2m - the Toffees (h)

The Toffees are inconsistent so this selection is focused more on the Blues'defence and Cucurella upside.

Chelsea have the fourth-strongest defence while Cucurella has generated more chances (19) than any other defender in the league.

And he hasn't scored yet, after scoring five times the previous campaign.

Diogo Dalot, Manchester United, £4.4m - Bournemouth (h)

You can't have high expectations for a United clean sheet - they have one all season - but the Cherries'goals have dried up in the past two matches.

Crucially, Dalot has been occupying some very attacking positions as left wing-back in the last three games.

During that spell he's taken 4 attempts, 2 big chances, one goal and one assist. He missed a great chance at Wolves on Monday as well.

Midfielders

Bukayo Saka (captain), Arsenal, £10.2m - Wolverhampton (h)

This game against Wolves is too good to pass up and that renders Bukayo Saka, Arsenaltop attacking player essential.

Little statistical analysis required to back this up. United had twenty-seven attempts at Wolves on Monday night, netted four and might have had twice as many.

The Gunners will be keen to attack.

Rice, Arsenal, £7.1m - Wolves (home)

One point behind Fernandes in the FPL midfielder standings, Declan Rice is incredibly consistent for Arsenal.

With more license to attack this term, he's generated more opportunities than any Gunners teammate (twenty-seven) and has five assists to show for it.

He's also the most reliable for minutes as the manager could see this as a chance to rest his players.

Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United, £9m - Bournemouth (home)

The Portuguese playmaker may have replaced Antoine Semenyo as the essential FPL midfield asset.

Fixture-proof, consistently a shout for defensive contribution points and with several routes to points.

Cole Palmer, Chelsea, £10.3m - Everton (home)

This week's punt, Palmer has his first full 90 minutes under his belt after a long layoff and we know what an explosive fantasy player he is capable of being.

You sense that, as quickly as he has one good game, fantasy coaches will be rushing to sign him up.

He was absent for ChelseaChampions League loss at the Italian side, but that was the team managing his minutes so he should be fresh for the Toffees.

Dango Ouattara, Brentford, £6m - Leeds (h)

Leeds come into this game off the back of two strong home results against Chelsea and the Reds, but away from home they have let in three times for every one they've scored.

This is likely Ouattara final fixture before departing for the Africa Cup of Nations.

He has been outstanding for Brentford this term, and has five attacking returns in his last three fixtures at home.

Attack

Thiago, the Bees, £6.9m - Leeds (home)

It has been a frustrating last few weeks for Thiago FPL managers, with just three FPL points in two matches.

Nevertheless, he's the second-highest top scorer in the division and has 7 goals in seven home games. He is the top forward option for this round and, with a favourable fixture list, you can select and hold up until the end of January at the very least.

Hugo Ekitike, the Reds, £8.4m - Brighton & Hove Albion (home)

Surely Arne Slot keeps faith with the young striker, after his two-goal performance at Leeds United.

He performed well at the start of the campaign and you can't help but think what he could have achieved had a rival striker not been signed and competed with him for playing time at the number nine role.
