Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is uncertain and the United States has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted debris fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
