Ex- Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a former physician has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
